Clearquire vs invoicing software

Invoicing platforms store clients and send reminders. Clearquire is a free browser PDF with no account and no upload — better when you only need the invoice file.

Pick Clearquire (opens in a new tab) when you need a professional invoice PDF without creating an account, without uploading client details, and without paying a monthly fee. Pick invoicing software (Wave, FreshBooks, Stripe Invoicing, and similar) when you need stored clients, payment links, automatic reminders, or accounting sync. Clearquire is free; there is no paid plan. Invoice details are not uploaded and are not stored by Clearquire.

Two jobs people mix up

Make a correct PDF and email it yourself. That is a form, totals, and a download. Clearquire does this in the browser. Step by step: how to create an invoice PDF without an account.

Run receivables. That is client records, unpaid lists, card or bank collection, reminders, and often tax reports. Platforms charge for that product (or fund it with payment fees). They are the right tool when those features are the job.

Why "free invoice generator" often still wants an account

Many browser generators ask for an email before download, or build the PDF on a server so your seller address, client address, line items, and bank details pass through their system. Clearquire's privacy page (opens in a new tab) states that those fields are not uploaded and not stored; the PDF is created on your device. Loading the site still produces ordinary server logs (IP, page request). The form contents do not.

That privacy shape is the usual reason to choose Clearquire over a free generator that is "free" but account-gated.

Side by side

  • Account. Clearquire: none. Platforms: required.
  • Price. Clearquire: $0, no upgrade path. Platforms: free tiers exist on some products; paid plans and payment fees are common — check each vendor.
  • Where data lives. Clearquire: your browser (optional draft on that device only). Platforms: their servers, by design.
  • Payment collection. Clearquire: none; you put payment details on the PDF and collect yourself. Platforms: often payment links and chased reminders.
  • Multi-currency PDF. Clearquire: GBP default, plus USD, EUR, AUD, CAD, and fourteen more, with totals rounded to minor units. See how to invoice a client in another currency.
  • Templates. Clearquire: two A4 layouts (Minimal and Modern), optional local logo up to 2 MB.

When to choose Clearquire

When invoicing software is the better fit

  • You need card payment links or automatic reminder sequences.
  • You invoice at a volume where an archive and client list inside the tool saves real time.
  • Your accountant wants a direct sync to bookkeeping software.

Clearquire does not send email, take payment, store a client list, or give tax or legal advice. If you need those, use a platform. If you need the PDF without the platform, use Clearquire.
