How to monitor a public roadmap or changelog

Point SignalWatch at the roadmap or changelog URL, trim noise with a selector or ignore rules, and get a diff when shipping notes change.

Product teams publish roadmaps and changelogs on ordinary public pages. If a vendor you depend on ships a breaking change there first, you want the text diff — not a weekly manual check. SignalWatch (opens in a new tab) watches any public HTTP(S) URL on a schedule and alerts by email, Slack, Discord, or a signed webhook when visible text changes. Free: 3 monitors every 15 minutes, no card.

Pick the right URL

Prefer the stable HTML page over a PDF or a JS-only board you cannot open in a private window. Good targets:

  • /changelog, /releases, or /whats-new
  • A public roadmap page that lists shipped and planned items
  • A GitHub Releases page for a dependency you pin

If the useful text sits inside a noisy shell (nav, "last updated" clocks, related posts), use a CSS selector for the main content and ignore rules for timestamps. Same pattern as monitoring a vendor status page or changelog.

Separate docs from marketing

Roadmaps often mix shipping notes with marketing copy. If API behaviour matters more than the landing page, also watch the docs URL — see monitor API docs for breaking changes. Keep one monitor per job so alerts stay readable.

Alert channel

Send the alert somewhere someone already watches. A signed webhook suits an internal bot; email is enough for a solo operator. For the general setup path, start with get alerted when a web page changes.
